Origin Energy's parts warehouse at Condabri, Queensland, was running out of room, and people were losing time chasing small items across 6,000 square metres of floor. In 2025 Origin installed two Shelfbot robots at the site.
We were running out of space and losing serious time chasing small items across 6,000 square metres. Shelfbot robots fixed that. A 25-metre system standing six metres high holds 1,500 totes and has significantly increased our usable space, while lifting picking and labour efficiency. The project's been a big win for us.

The problem
Small parts for the site were spread across a large floor, so finding one meant a walk, and the warehouse was running out of space to hold them.
What was installed
One Shelfbot rack, 25 metres long and six metres high, holding 1,500 totes and served by two robots. Picking happens at a single workstation.
Orders come from Origin’s SAP system. The robots retrieve the totes for each order and present them at the workstation, where the parts are picked and the totes return to the rack.
Outcome
In Origin’s words, the system has significantly increased the warehouse’s usable space while lifting picking and labour efficiency.
